Cottage by the Stream.
A beautiful sunny November morning for a ramble in the Wicklow hills. I'd seen images of this cottage before, but had never visited. I reckoned it might look great in late Autumn. Not fully sure where it was I headed off to Glenmalure. The cottage itself was easy enough to find with the waterfall and Carrawystick mountain as markers.
To the front of the cottage a river runs by actually submerging the original drive way. The white washed walls and red tin roof reflecting in the waters To the rear is the magnificent Carrawaystick waterfall. A zig zag path on the right of the waterfall brings you eventually to the top of the mountain and on to other summits in the Wicklow mountains. I did hike a little bit up the mountain but the chance of cloud drifting in and losing the beautiful light after sunrise stopped me going any further, I will go back another day for a proper hike through.
Imagine living here, it is idyllic location with Wicklow mountains on their doorstep, though maybe the owners frown upone all the hikers and photographers who wander through the right of way to the Wicklow mountains taking some time to admire the setting and taking a photo or three.
A different take on a familiar view
I tried to get different compositions and shoot something I hadn't seen before which to be honest is quite difficult with locations that are well known in the photography community. I decided to create a black and white image to feature the cottage and the reflections in the river, devoid of the colourful roof this image this image has a different appeal.
Enjoyable time on a beautiful morning. For more of my photography see the links below. All images are available to purchase as prints or complete framed and ready to hang.
